This Saturday come out to the Chicopee Agricultural Center for the New Classic Horse Show and see some of the finest equestrian sportsmen in the Southeast.

Admission is FREE.

The event will take place in both the covered and open air arenas. Vendors will be on hand with tack and other items horseback riding enthusiasts will enjoy.

Brenau Celebrates Chopin, Schumann and Barber with Live Performances

A week full of music celebrating Robert Schumann (born 1810), Frederic Chopin (born 1810) and Samuel Barber (born 1910) will be hosted on the campus of Brenau University.

Admission is FREE to this series of musical events to be held October 18-26th

Monday, 7:30 p.m. General Recital Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium.

Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium, featuring Ben Leaptrott on piano.

Thursday, 7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert. Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium. Featuring Barbara Steinhaus, mezzo-soprano and John Wustman on piano.

Chicopee Agricultural Center Hosts Cowboys and Cowgirls

The Peach state mounted Shooters will descend upon the Chicopee Ag Center again this October for another shoot out event.
Spectators to this FREE event will enjoy the horsemanship on display when riders and their steeds take on the obstacle course where six guns are flying and hooves are kicking up dust. Check out the videos below of mounted shooters scheduled to compete:

Get Your Motor Running at Car Show in Oakwood

This Saturday, October 9th a car show to benefit a good cause will be happening right off Exit 16 (I-985) in Oakwood.

1st Annual Secret Santa Car Show

Proceeds will benefit the Secret Santa toy drive that brings Christmas cheer to needy children in the area.

All types of cars will be on display- classic models, race cars and hot rods
Entry fee for cars = a charitable donation to the Secret Santa fund

Car Show 9am-4pm
Awards presented at 3pm

Clermont Invites All to Sunday in the Park

Come out for a day of good old fashioned family fun in celebration of the Labor Day holiday. Slides, jumps, rock wall, bull ride and quad bungee. Fireworks, concert by Calling Levi, The Wauka Mountain Boys and Concord’s Choir and Orchestra. Car show.

Avatar tonight at The Arts Council

The Arts Council kicks off its annual summer Movies on the Green series tonight with the blockbuster hit “Avatar.”

Showing on the grass behind the Smithgall Arts Center in downtown Gainesville, this sci-fi adventure takes viewers to the planet Pandora, where a paraplegic ex-marine finds a new life, only to find himself battling other humans alongside the planet’s Na’vi race.

The film is directed by Academy Award-winning “Titanic” director James Cameron.

The film, which starts at dusk, will be shown on a 35-foot inflatable screen on the lawn. Gates open at 7:30, and there will be games and other kid-friendly activities prior to the start of the movie. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.

Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children/students and free for Arts Council members. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Next month, the film series will present “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” on July 1. In case of rain, either film’s rain date is Aug. 5; otherwise, a third movie may be shown on that date. For more information, call 770-534-2787 or visit www.theartscouncil.net.

To celebrate National Kite month, Lake Lanier Islands will host it’s first “Fly By” on April 3rd. Guests of all ages are invited to relive this classic American past time, kite flying.

Parents, children and friends will be able to spend the day making kites, flying kites and watching kite-flying demonstrations by SAKE, the Suburban Atlanta Kite Enthusiast club. There will even be a prize for the largest kite flown that day.

SAKE will be available to give tips on how to fly kites and will also make kites with guests as well as demonstrate four-line kite flying.

Saturday April 3rd from 10am-4pm at Lake Lanier Islands Resort. Just follow the signs from the front gate!
